100 Muslim Women is about consciously inserting one hundred Muslim women into the ears and everyday conversations of Americans.
I am creating and giving away 100 pairs of free earrings featuring Muslim women over the next year for Americans to insert into their ears and thus into spaces and conversations that Muslim women have traditionally been excluded from--an intentional inclusion in physical form.
Most American spaces lack the voices of Muslim women, and often our stories are portrayed as war porn, liberation porn, and misogyny porn, yet rarely as active parts of the American story defined by our own experience. 100 Muslim Women seeks to challenge exclusion and bring Muslim women into the ears, conversations and consciousness of Americans.
